Catuh Shasti Kala - 64 Traditional Arts an Introduction

Teacher: Bharat Chandra Dasa

Cultivation of various arts helps us build a divine culture of positive and blissful engagement of our mind, body, intelligence and ego in the service of lotus feet of Krsna. Lack of cultivation of such arts leads us to animalistic civilization of dry speculation and fruitive mentality. Indeed arts are ingredients for stimulation in Bhakti as Srila Jiva Goswami mentions.

64 Traditional Arts are an important part of education in the Vedic tradition. Due to an aimless modern educational system, cultivation of arts has been long neglected and consequently a civilization of arm chair philosophers and corrupt people has been created like never seen before. The mental cognition and fineness of thought process required to appreciate and reciprocate in Krsna consciousness has been stunted severely. This makes a chaotic civilization of disturbed people and hence a disturbed civilization.

This course aims to course correct and introduce the 64 various arts rich in life and opportunities to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna. Sri Krsna Himself showed the way by learning these arts in 64 days under Sandipani Muni!
