ॐ सुरभ्यै नमः OṀ Surabhyai Namaḥ! All glories to Mother Surabhi! All glories to Varnasrama Dharma! All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Hare Krishna.
The primary goal of Varnasrama College ONLINE is to train and educate both devotees and non-devotees on Varnasrama Dharma. Our website offers courses as well as repository of resources to support the development of Varnasrama communities virtually and locally. This is a project of Varnasrama College Network, in collaboration with the ISKCON Ministry of Education.
The Varnasrama College ONLINE was officially launched in May 2020. We are pleased to offer 7 inaugural online courses. Additional courses will be added in the days and weeks to come. All courses are given by qualified and approved devotee Teachers.
Varnasrama College ONLINE will focus on Education for Men in its first few months of operation. Policies on Education for Women will be announced before the end of September 2020. Until such guidelines are given VCO will temporarily suspend any further registration for matajis. VCO will open communication with Teachers who have already registered. VCO Courses, Fees & Accreditation
While VCO upholds and promotes the traditional Vedic Dakshina system where students are required to offer Dakshina to their Teachers at the end of their education, we also recognize that until society is able to support the Brahmana Teachers, in some instances financial considerations will need to be met.
In our Vedic literatures Dakshina is listed as being mandatory for a student and can be given in the form of Laksmi (money), kind (grains, gift or other) or direct service. The Teacher, in discussion with the student, will approve and sanction.
All VCO courses will fall in one of three categories:
1. Upfront Payment
Upon completion of specific courses, only those students who have fulfilled their obligations in categories 1 and 2 will be eligible to receive accreditation that will gradually lead towards certification.
Volunteers & Inquiries
We are looking for volunteers who are keen to join the team to support the project administratively. Particularly, we need devotees who are experienced in education management, learning management systems (LMS), web development, drupal, marketing communications and project management.
If you have any inquiries or would like to volunteer or support this effort in any way, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
